GOLD OR SILVER PLATING
Some Boutique Minimaliste pieces are produced in a gold-plated metal with a layer of of anti-tarnish on top for lasting. Although these pieces last quite some time, you need to take care of them. Know more here.
The majority of Boutique Minimaliste pieces are produced in gold plated stainless steel. Stainless steel is a highly durable metal, allowing it to withstand the wear and tear of everyday activities. It is corrosion-free & tarnish-free. Maintaining stainless steel jewelry is also really easy as you won't have to have special cleaning solution or cloth to care for your jewelry. Stainless steel resists tarnish and corrosion thanks to an invisible layer of chromium that prevents oxidation. Stainless steel can be used for many different applications such as surgical and medical tools, aerospace applications, and architecture. But it’s also used to make jewelry and because the metal is corrosion and heat-resistant, it can make a great addition to your jewelry box. The jewelry is harder to scratch and can withstand the sun, the sand, and the sea. It really takes the stress away from remembering to take off your jewelry in the shower! It is the most environmentally-friendly metal option in the jewelry world. In the production process, the amount of energy used and waste produced is dramatically less than in the production of other metals for jewelry. It is also 100% recyclable.
New, old stock. Pieces or supplies that were manufactured long ago but that never used. Found on vintage shops, and throughout our trips. It's impossible to know the full length of materials for these pieces, also being vintage there are age details on these pieces, giving them character and making them unique.
SOLID STERLING SILVER
We have a special collection made from Sterling silver. Sterling Silver is a precious metal that gradually wears to attain a very beautiful finish with tiny imperfections that it attains every single day that you wear it. We personally love this natural finish and feel that it accentuates the beauty of the metal. But it is inevitable that any piece of silver, will need to be polished occasionally over its lifetime. This in only true to non plated sterling silver. Gold plated sterling silver should never be polished and needs to be re-plated from time to time by a professional jeweler, as the gold layer wears off. Also 100% recyclable.
STERLING SILVER PLATING
Our sterling-silver plated pieces are plated with sterling silver on brass with a layer of anti-tarnish on top. See the collection here.

Most Boutique Minimaliste accessories are handmade in limited batches by our team in Portugal. As a result, our pieces are truly unique, with stories and variations of their own. To keep your pieces in tip-top condition, we suggest storing it in a dust bag or box separately.
We only work with high-quality, enduring materials. Our jewelry is made to last with high-quality metals and plating.

If your piece is made entirely from Stainless Steel, (with no pearls, rhinestones or any other material) feel free to live your life to the fullest with it. You can wash your hands, take a bath, do your normal life. Even use the alcohol gel we all keep in our bags these days.
Maintaining Stainless Steel jewelry is so easy as you won't have to have special cleaning solution to care for your jewelry. Just use warm water and liquid soap to keep your stainless steel jewelry good as new.
And YES! Our GOLD, STAYS GOLD. Yes, even with showers, lotions, etc...
Some pieces are mode delicate with vintage pearls, rhinestones, gemstones, etc. If this is the case, please, avoid perfumes, lotions, oils, water or any substances that may harm those pieces. Take off your jewelry when adding makeup, swimming, sleeping and exercising.
After each wear, gently wipe with a soft jewelry cloth and keep safe.
We use fresh water pearls from oysters and freshwater mussels that we carefully select for our pieces. Pearls are sensitive and delicate in nature, so don’t forget to treat them with love. Avoid hanging pearl necklaces on a hook. Prefer to lay it flat on a pouch for storage. Wear them! Pearls were originally born in the water and benefit immensely from absorbing the oils on your skin. So go ahead, put them on and show them you care. Seel ALL pearls here.
Sterling Silver pieces are H2O sensitive. Your gold vermeil and silver jewelry should be kept in a dark, cool and dry place. Avoid water when wearing your piece, because over time the sterling silver will oxidize. However, the oils in your skin will help keep sterling silver from oxidizing faster. So, wear often your Boutique Minimaliste jewelry.
For VINTAGE pieces & Gold and Silver plated metals, please expect some natural minor tarnishing over time with wear. To reduce the effect of wear, gently wipe jewelry with soft polishing cloth and store in a dry place. Protect jewelry from water or any lotions, from abrasive surfaces and harsh chemicals and please be mindful of wearing makeup near jewelry or of getting your plated metal piece wet. Tarnishing and discoloration occur by the oxidization process, when metal is in contact with air and acids through handling and moisture.
Boutique Minimaliste recommends that you always store your jewelry pieces individually, in a box or pouch for protection, so that they don’t rub together, scratch or tangle.
